Honestly, until last year my fear of rejection was

Honestly, until last year my fear of rejection was the WORST! It got so bad that I didn’t ring the dentist for four years because I couldn’t deal with them telling me they didn’t have any appointments.

I did some serious work with my therapist on this last year. Still, I think my biggest inspo was seeing @wambamphotography ask for anything and everything all the time with absolutely no fear or shame, so I started trying it myself.
I started with small, irrelevant things first, and then I worked up to bigger, more important things. Not only did I learn that 8 times out of 10, the answer is a yes, because people do want to help you, but also, if people do say no, it means nothing more and nothing less than a ‘no’.

This will sound ridiculous to most of the population😂 but I know that I cannot be alone. I hope #rejection#relateable

Do you want to know one of the main reasons why I think girls and women end up feeling so insecure?

Because we are taught from such a young age that our bodies are the most interesting things about us.

So, we will go through pain, restriction, punishment, and so much more in the hope that if we can push that bit further towards the beauty standard from where we currently are, we will feel successful. We will be happy.

But when that feeling of success or happiness wears off or doesn’t come at all, we’re left feeling like we didn’t try hard enough. There is more work to be done. More to change.

It doesn’t matter how much you change, shrink or enhance your outer appearance. You will always fall short if you’re not taking care of what’s going on in your heart and mind.

The first time I properly committed to a diet was

The first time I properly committed to a diet was when I was 18 and wanted the best body I could have for my career as a dancer.

I had no idea what I was doing, but I told myself that if my weight went down on the scale, it was a success. I formed such an unhealthy relationship with the scale that it would ultimately dictate my mood, and no weight ever felt low enough. Before I realised it, I’d fallen entirely out of control and developed an eating disorder.

The second time I committed to a diet was one year after my recovery. I just wanted to ‘tone up’ for a holiday and ended up doing bikini competing. Trying to sustain such a low body fat, I developed alopecia and no periods, but the real struggle came when I started to eat normally again. The ‘fitspo’ identity that I’d given myself made me feel so ashamed of eating, so I would secretly eat in my room, and the year of food restrictions led to binges and eating until I couldn’t move.

It took me years to heal my metabolism and even longer than that to normalise my relationship with food and body. I regret giving so much of my time and headspace to dieting because I didn’t believe I was enough as I was.

I was just an ordinary girl who innocently went on a diet to have a better body. Please trust me when I say it isn’t worth it. Your ‘now’ body is enough.🖤

Happy New Year lovelies ✨🥳

I took a much need detox from instagram and brought in the new year in Lanzarote with some of my favourite people ✨

My main intention for this year is to be where my feet are aka be present. Instead of panicking trying to tick off all of my goals in the first week (like usual 🙂), I’m choosing to take it slow and trust that what’s for me won’t pass me by!

A note on grief over Christmas: The more we think about it being a time of togetherness with our loved ones, the more we’re reminded of the empty seats around the table.

It’s painful but also beautiful that we’ve been able to experience a love so strong that we feel so much pain in their absence.

If you’re grieving the loss of someone special to you, whether you lost them this year or years ago, it’s ok to take a minute to let it out. It’s ok to have a sob during, what’s meant to be, the happiest time of the year. It’s ok the call things off if you’re not feeling up to it. It’s also ok to be happy because although they’re no longer with you in person, they’re always with you in spirit. ⭐️

I asked you what content you wanted from me and there was an overflow of requests for help around Christmas food guilt.

I restricted before Christmas, I’ve over exercised to compensate for calories, I’ve binged out before starting a diet after Christmas, and honestly, none of it prevented food guilt. Mastering Tip number 2, probably had the biggest impact on me, and helped me step out of the mindset of ‘I need to eat as much as I can to the point where I can’t move because I’m not allowed any of this as of tomorrow’.

If you eat more than usual over Christmas- so what?
If you gain abit of weight over Christmas- so what?

(Referring to tip number 4) you’re never going to look back and be fuming you over ate, or gain a few pounds, you’re going to cherish the time spent with the people you love because that’s all what really matters 💛

All seemingly insignificant things, that have had a positive lasting impact on my day/ life.
You just existing do that for other people too. Those things you do because they’re second nature. The smile you made to a stranger. Holding the door open, texting your mate to see how they are.

It all matters, and because of that YOU matter more than you will ever know.

One of my biggest regrets is the time I wasted and anxiety I caused myself through counting calories and tracking my food.

I thought I was doing it to be healthier, but instead it made me obsess about food and feel guilty if I’d go over my target.

I know I have a history of eating disorders, but I know first hand through speaking to friends that you don’t have to have an eating disorder for tracking foods to very quickly become obsessive and take control of your life.

I just want to remind you, that you don’t have to track your food to be healthier, and actually a healthy mindset towards food is so much more valuable.

Life is literally way to short to spend 30 minutes- an hour a day adding up your food ⚡️#foodie#confidence#eatwithme

When I was younger, I thought by 28 I was going to have a husband, children and a job that had set me up for life. Apart from @mikerobtraining being my unofficial hubby, I don’t have any of that- I’m just happy to be alive. I’m happy to have good mates, and happy to have interests and a love for doing things that feel exciting for me ⭐️

I value practising self-care by listening to my body and resting when I need it, but it doesn’t mean I find it easy.

Friday to Sunday, I’ll sit on my back side doing sweet FA no problem. But having to rest during the week when I should be working gives me low key anxiety- I’m not going to lie.

Anyone else who’s caught the cough/cold/ flu/ whatever it is going round- this is your reminder that it’s ok to do nothing. We need chill as much as we need productivity.

We’re not wasting time or life by choosing slow days & rest. ✌🏻 💛

It’s December 1st, which means more socialising

It’s December 1st, which means more socialising in one month than I do for the rest of the year.

With socialising comes, social anxiety, self-sabotaging self-talk, and this belief that when we walk into a room, the spotlight is on us, and every single person is thinking or saying something about us.

Please remember, nobody sees you the way you see yourself! Your insecurities, self-doubts and fears are not tattooed onto your forehead for everyone to see. The things you focus on are not what other people focus on- so please OWN yourself! 💛
